Communities In Schools is not a specific program imposed on kids and schools. Instead, it is a process by which local leaders, community members, parents, and students embrace the idea that keeping all kids in school is essential to the social and economic future of the community.
CIS works with school staff and families to identify needs and objectives within each school building. CIS then aligns existing services and designs programs to meet the specific goals. At CIS, we coordinate whole-school initiatives, intensive short-term services to students with immediate needs, and sustained services for those needing continuing support to succeed in school.
