HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Education is not a privilege; it's entitled to every child, however, it cannot be the sole responsibility of a school system. It is our responsibility because every child belongs to a community.
Yet, today the reality is children face hunger daily, insecurity from unstable families, and inadequate medical attention. Violence and abuse haunt their lives and erect physical and mental barriers to education. And sadly, statistics reveal that because of these barriers, an alarmingly low number of high-risk youth graduate from Columbus and Whitehall City Schools successfully.
Communities In Schools is knocking down those barriers one by one. Will you join us?
Become a Communities In Schools Champion
Communities In Schools' Partner Program
Webster's dictionary defines a champion as "one that does battle for another's rights." At Communities In Schools, it is our belief that we must all be champions for the children of our community. It is our obligation to ensure that all children attain an education and are prepared to enter the workforce.
Communities In Schools (CIS) has services and programming in place to achieve this goal. To continue and expand our services to the students in Central Ohio, we depend upon the financial support of corporations and community foundations.
We developed Champions to give organizations and businesses a chance to make an immediate impact in four specific ways: providing full-time staff working in the schools, developing mentoring programs, improving after-school activities, and partnering with a particular school. By becoming a CIS Champion, your organization:
- partners with CIS, an organization named as one of 100 Best Charities by Worth Magazine
- utilizes its resources to improve the educational experience for the children in Central Ohio
- impacts the future workforce of our community
- invests in a financially-sound organization that directs $90 of each $100 to services
